What is it about?

Apprentices are a group that health prevention programmes find hard to reach. Vocational schools reach them regularly. How can future vocational teachers be prepared to act as multipliers for health-related competencies, such as sleep, physical activity and the assessment of psychological strain at work?

Goals

  • Enable future vocational teachers to acquire health-related competencies during their studies and teacher traineeship
  • Support them in passing these competencies on to apprentices
  • Help apprentices carry this knowledge into their companies
  • Transfer an approach proven in education to health promotion

Approach

The group links health, education and the world of work and is oriented towards Sustainable Development Goals 3, 4 and 8. It follows design-based research in three phases: foundations and needs analysis, iterative development and testing, and summative evaluation with transfer and consolidation. Partners from research, educational practice and education policy, statutory accident insurance institutions, health insurance funds and chambers of industry and commerce are involved.

Partners

  • Leuphana University LüneburgSocial Science Education and three professorships in psychology (health psychology, transformation of the world of work, societal transformation)
